Great eBay Score!

After much deliberation, I've made the decision to make all of Abigail's baby food rather than buy it. I've gone back and forth on this decision for months now trying to weigh the costs and benefits of both option. I finally came to the conclusion that since Mike and I still want more children, not to mention the fact that I'm a SAHM and have plenty of time to make my own babyfood now, the cost savings of doing it myself will be pretty substantial (I plan to use only organic fruits/veggies).

I then decided that I prefer to purchase the Beaba Babycook to a regular food processor. The price tag of $149.95 was a little off-putting, however, considering the fact that our family is now living on a fairly strict budget.

I've been attempting to scour eBay and Craigslist for some time now trying to find a great deal. Unfortunately, most were still well over $100 for a used model. NOT cool.

Finally, I found one on eBay yesturday for $89.99 NIB. The seller merely didn't have as much feedback as some of the other sellers although she had sold several baby items in the past and received excellent feedback on those items. I decided to trust her and purchased the Babycook. I've already heard from her and the Beaba is supposed to ship this afternoon.

I'm so excited! I'm now on a search for some food storage containers and will be checking out Half.com for some used baby cookbooks to get me started.

Only 2.5 more weeks until Abbey starts solids!

Smiling for the Camera!

I can't even begin to tell you how hard it has been in the past to get Abbey to smile (or at least make a cute expression) while snapping pictures of her. Finally, I managed to catch some really cute ones! As soon as I whipped out the camera this time, she totally started cheesing it up.

Isn't she adorable? :)

My Sleepy Girl

Yesturday while I was cleaning, I left Abigial to play in her Jumperoo for a bit.

I was in the master bedroom making the bed while she was out in the living room jumping away.

When I came back in to check on her, this is what I found:

I guess she played a little too hard.

First Pool Day(s)

I recently bought this pool for Abigail as I really liked that it would provide ample shade for her:

Well, the weather was finally nice enough here for her to use it. It was a bit challenging to hold her up (I don't entirely trust her to sit on her own yet) and snap some pictures, but I managed to pull it off.

Last Friday, we finally made it out to Grandma M's pool for the first time as well.

Here's Abbey shortly after waking up from a nap in her stroller after a long day of swimming:

Yay, for summer!

Happy Father's Day!

We had a fairly quiet 1st (official) Father's Day this year. I designed a nice card for Mike on Shutterfly - see below - and we went out to dinner with my parents to celebrate. All-in-all, it was a wonderful family day.

Five Months Old!

I can't believe we've almost made it to 6 months...

So much has changed with Abigail over the past month and I've just been in awe over how big she's getting already. It seems as if she's changing everyday, which, I suppose she is.

Here's what Abbey's been up to over the past month:

  • She will now try to imitate you if you blow "raspberries" at her. It's adorable!

  • She rolls every which way!

  • She is now successfully sleeping unswaddled.

  • She has finally figured out how to jump in her jumperoo and she apparantly loves it!

  • Although she's still very much teething (which has meant some rough days/nights for mommy) she still hasn't cut any teeth.

  • She has outgrown most of her 0-3 month pants (the tops still fit fine) and has moved on to 3 month clothing.

  • She is wearing size 1-2 diapers.
  • She reaches for everything.

  • She can sit very well while assisted and has even started attempting to sit all by herself!

  • She can get her feet to her mouth and loves sucking on them.

  • She has managed to put her paci back in her mouth 3 times so far all by herself.

  • She babbles all the time and is full of smiles!

And lastly, she SITS!

My SAHM Adventures - Day 2

I promise I won't post about every mundane detail of my life now that I'm home, but I couldn't resist posting these pics.

The weather finally warmed back up here a bit so Abbey and I went to the park for the first time!

This baby swing was still way too big for her, but she seemed to like it nonetheless:

We then decided to rest in the shade for a bit.

It just so happened that while I was sitting at one of the picnic tables, I realized that I sat down directly next to this:

Apparantly, you're never too young to have a boyfriend. Now I just need to find out who Ryan is LOL. Seriously, what are the odds?

My SAHM Adventures - Day 1

Can I just start out by saying that this is WONDERFUL?! The stress of being a SAH mommy is nothing compared to the stress that I faced at work. Abbey seems especially happy to have me home and I am especially happy to be here with her. My house is slowly getting cleaned adn I'm enjoying every moment so far. I'm so glad that I made the decision to quit my job.

The weather was a bit too cool to play outside today, but we still did a lot of playing inside!

WTF Moment of the Week

Last night after work, I decided to take Abbey with me to run some errands. Mike was doing some work from home so I figured it would be nice for him to have some quiet. As the gas tank of my Explorer was approaching the dangerously empty point, my first stop was at a gas station. As soon as I pulled up to the pump, Abbey starts crying (and by crying, I mean literally shrieking) - she was tired, hot, upset with having to sit in the backseat by herself, and have I mentioned that she's getting 3 (yes, three) teeth in. I calmly opened the back door while the gas was pumping and was attempting to soothe her as best I could without actually taking her out of her carseat.

Enter the middle aged woman pumping gas on the other side of the pump.

Here's pretty much how our conversation went:

Her: "God, that sounds terrible. Are you sure she's ok?"

Me: "Oh, she's fine. It's close to bedtime and she's teething so she's had a rough few days."

Her: "Well, can't you do anything for her? I mean, listen to her! You should really do something. Why don't you call her doctor? Isn't there anything he can do?"

Me: "Really? Don't you think if I could do something I would? Her pedi has already given us some great suggestions."

Her: "You NEED to make her stop. Poor little thing."

Me: "While I do feel badly for her, what exactly would you suggest? Should I magically pull all of her teeth through her gums to quicken the process? My goodness. She'll be fine in a few minutes once the car starts moving again. Babies cry. That's what they do. I'm so sorry to have inconvenienced you."

She then drove off with her friend in the car both staring at me like they were a second away from calling child services.

WTF?

First of all, it's not as if I was just leaving her there to cry. I was soothing her the best I could while pumping gas (the stupid little latch on the nozzle wasn't working so I had to keep manually squeezing it). Secondly, she's only 20 weeks old. Yes, she cries. She does it regularly, in fact. She's still a perfectly healthy and happy baby.

Apparantly, this woman has never had nor been exposed to children. Do people really get this worked up by a crying baby?

Tummy Time is Serious Stuff...
